ddms Earns a Spot in Top Workplaces

Employee Input Puts ddms into a Select Group of Employers

ddms, Inc., earned a Star Tribune Minnesota Top Workplaces Award for 2025. While some awards are based on external opinions, revenue, or growth, the Top Workplaces is based solely on employee feedback.

The survey measures multiple facets of the employee experience around key themes, like:

  • Feeling respected & supported
  • Enabled to grow
  • Empowered to execute
  • And several more.

“Only 200 companies make the list, which is quite an honor considering how many thousands of companies are located here in the Twin Cities,” said director of human resources, Mike Goecke. “Being a Top Workplace is validation of the work we’ve all put into making ddms a company people want to join.”

Based in St. Paul, MN, ddms has a national team of nearly 70 environmental data experts who help companies deal with complicated scientific data that need to be expertly interpreted, securely stored, and seamlessly managed. The company has grown steadily since its co-founding in 2006 by Mark Packard, the current CEO.

“Even though we’re all externally focused on our clients and the never-changing field of environmental data, each person is committed to working as a team,” said Packard. “Seeing us win a ranking like this gives us even more energy to continue building our culture and not lose sight of what it takes to both be a great company to work for, as well as to work with.”

How the ratings work

The rankings in the Star Tribune Top 200 Workplaces are based on survey information collected by Energage, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention.

To qualify, a company must have more than 50 employees in Minnesota. Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses.
